Who are we ?

Day 5ve were playing music in the early 80s - based in Stoke-on-Trent / Newcastle under Lyme, in England - they were a political band that didn't quite make it into the big time. They started when Jeff and Alison got together to do political theatre for local CND "Limited Theatre Warfare" they called it - started off as street theatre, then sketches, then Alison wrote a play with songs, a bit like 7: 84 theatre, that told the same story as the Raymond Briggs one "When the Wind Blows" - only we did it first, and Jeff did the music for the songs and it seemed to work - he played guitar ( OK but not flash) and a bloke called Dave played bass - and Alison wanted to learn bass - so she bought a cheap one and then Jeff and Alison started started writing songs that weren't part of the play, and thaye sounded ok too, so they decided to form a band and needed other musicians so they asked Nick, who went to the same club as them and looked cool and said he'd just started playing drums and that went OK too - although a bit basic at times - all learning together then Nick got his friend Steve to join and they started practising and writing and playing.
